Man, sounds like i should try to get in legally

    Seeking asylum is legal.

To dive into it a bit more: Pretend the US economy collapsed largely because of Canada’s repeated interference in US economy or the economy of neighboring countries that might have been functional trading partners. After taking resources from America over the course of decades, installing pro-Canada politicians in local and state governments, and possibly even aiding in the creation of these roving gangs, Canada withdraws humanitarian support. They say that America needs to support itself and its own people and that sure they might have done some things a very long time ago (It wasn’t) but now America needs to create a functional government of its own. One not filled by the corruption that they helped to create.

None of which helps with the roving gangs breaking into homes and killing people.

But, seeking asylum is, on paper, legal. In order to legally cross into Canada you need to fear for your safety or for the safety of your family and seek asylum. Well, there are roving gangs, abuse is rampant, and the police force is either functionally useless or in the pockets of these groups so, hey, you have that down!

But you need to move quickly because there are people who want to make this PERFECTLY LEGAL means of immigration illegal, in which case there are no other nearby countries that you could flee to. And the current Prime Minister keeps saying they’ll close the border entirely, threatens bringing in guns, and it becomes increasingly clear that the longer you wait, the more violent and unlikely it is that you’ll be able to find a home in Canada.

    So you cross. Legally.

Canada takes you at gunpoint, strips your two year old of anything that you’ve given them, and deports you. Months pass, no word from your child. You hear reports, they could be dead, dying, adopted into a Canadian family, or sold to human (usually sex) traffickers. No one knows, because no one is keeping track of what happens to American kids. You try to reach out for help and you get told that you should have followed the law.

    Which you did.

And they stole and possibly murdered your kid for anyway.

Hey kids, this is the definition of a genocide! Push whoever wins in 2020 to allow UN investigations into this.

Ans hey: no human is illegal!!!

For anyone who needs to hear it:

Your late teens/20s are a weird time in your life. Don’t panic if you think somebody is more “ahead” than you. The concept of being ahead is nonexistent anyway because life’s not a race and each person has different hurdles to overcome.

It’s totally fine if you’re single. It’s fine if you’re still finishing school. It’s fine if you are still looking for a better job, or for any job at all. It’s fine if you haven’t had sex yet, or haven’t gotten your driver license yet. It’s fine if you haven’t gotten your own place yet. It’s fine if you are still figuring things out, saving money, putting the pieces together. It’s fine.

Don’t feel jealous of or lesser than people your age who have done these things. You don’t know what obstacles they faced to get there and they don’t know what you’ve faced. Don’t undermine the progess you have made.

Because, trust me, you have made progress. Even if it hasn’t materialized yet in the traditional way.

You are still young. Like really young.

    You got time.

in m. night’s movie they replaced actual Chinese characters that were readily available and shown in literally every single episode with gibberish nonsense that is also high key ugly

here’s the link to the the OP

They weren’t just inaccurate to the show, they went out of their WAY to be as inaccurate in general as possible. Dammit, M. Night.

to be totally fair, I think a lot of that shit wasn’t his fault, but from what studio execs kept making him do until the point he finally just fucking gave up and clearly just sat back, tuned everything out, and started picking up a check

for one thing, Nicola Peltz 100% got the role because of nepotism and bypassed the audition process that everyone else had to go through, like Sokka, Aang, and Zuko’s actors had to go through

Interviews and post mortems have pointed out that shyamalan is basically the only one in the staff that actually saw the show, as it was his kids’ favorite show, so basically shyamalan is why the movie is as accurate as it is

“The Band’s Visit is a very atypical musical. One could even argue that it’s a play with live music. All the designs support the non-musical theater conceit of the storytelling and the architecture of the music. What thrills me are the risks we’ve taken by not presenting ideas in flashy overt ways, but that ask the audience to lean in and pay close attention to nuances and details. Not your typical description of a musical theatre lighting rig. We knew it wasn’t a flashy musical that would be loaded with a lot of cues, so it became, “Well, what do we need to communicate the atmosphere of this night in this town, and the relationships of these people?” We wanted to do it with as little as was necessary, but still give each intimate storyline a distinct, emotional feel and location. For The Band’s Visit, the design team and I spoke mostly about color temperature, from warm to fluorescent tones, and uniformity, which we need as much as possible to make it like realistic interior lighting – like you’re looking into someone’s home.”

okay um but “you get love for it, you get hate for it, you get nothing if you wait for it, wait for it” is probably one of the best Hamilton quotes and everyone seems to forget about it’s existence????

It’s easy to forget that everything that’s happening in Palestine is a result of European colonialism, centuries of European antisemitism, and Europe’s inability to answer its ‘Jewish question’

The ‘Jewish question’ was never a Palestinian or an Arab one, but a European one. Instead of Europe ‘answering’ it, by giving their Jewish populations their fair and equal rights and ending their centuries of antisemitism, they just simply tossed it onto the Middle East through lending it a very European tool; which is settler colonialism.

Europe found its ‘answer’ (or it didn’t) by simply letting someone else try to figure out the ‘answer’ and in the process sending a whole region into decades of chaos, and destabilization.

Every person who advocates themselves for the Palestinian cause must be fully aware that Zionism is fueled by antisemitism, and antisemitism empowers it. So let’s not act surprised when we see white supremacist and right-wing groups declare their love and support for Israel, because simply to them it’s the answer to their antisemitism and hatred for the Jewish people.
